Materials Needed for Your Christmas tree treat box

To craft this festive box, gather the following supplies:

  • Cutting Machine: A Cricut or other compatible cutting machine for precise cuts.

  • Cardstock: Choose cardstock in your preferred colours. I used green, and brown colours, at 216 gsm in weight.

  • Cutting Mat: Use a StandardGrip mat to hold your cardstock while cutting.

  • Glue: I prefer using glue with a fine-tip applicator for precise, clean application.

  • Sticky tape (Optional): To make the box more sturdy.

These essentials will help you create a beautiful holiday card ready to share with loved ones!

Preparing the File for Cutting.

Follow these steps to ensure your file is ready for both cutting on a Standard Grip mat.

  • Download and unzip the files on your computer / device.

  • Go to your Cricut canvas and click upload.

  • From your downloads, select the Cricut SVG file to upload onto your Cricut canvas. You can choose between a file with separate score lines or one where the score lines are cut out.

  • If you choose the file with separate score lines, you’ll need to adjust the settings in your Cricut canvas. All SVG files load as cut files by default, so first, ungroup the design. Then, select the score lines, change them to ‘Score,’ and attach them to the Christmas tree base before clicking 'Make It.

  • Click make it, and follow instructions on screen to cut your card stock pieces out.

Assembly.

  • After cutting out all your card stock pieces, your setup should look like the 1st photo.

  • Begin by assembling the Christmas trees. Start with the two large Christmas tree pieces.

  • Glue the smaller trees on top of the larger ones, as shown in the photos.

  • Glue the starts on top of the trees.

  • Fold the box base along the perforated or scored lines.

  • Glue the Christmas trees in place on the outside of the box.

  • Fold up the box and interlock the tabs on both sides to secure the shape.

  • Optional: Add a piece of sticky tape to secure the tabs and reinforce the box for extra sturdiness.

  • Fill the box with sweets or other treats of your choice.

  • Close the box by folding the tabs in place, as shown in the second to last photo.

  • Fold up the Christmas tree tabs and tie them securely with a decorative ribbon as shown in the last photo.
